Philosophy
We believe that each child is a unique and important gift from God. The school provides a safe environment where the child can grow as a total person: spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically, and aesthetically.
Our Catholic Faith is reflected in a comprehensive curriculum where the child can freely, know, love, and serve God.
Our educational environment is designed to prepare the child to become a responsible adult who can function in the faith community and in society as a strong Catholic.
Goals
Our goal is to provide an environment, build relationships and integrate curriculum reflecting Gospel values based on love, respect, trust, peace and personal responsibility. Our goals are to:
- To motivate and guide our students to think, to judge and to act according to Christian principles.
- To assist parents in developing, in their children, an understanding and appreciation of our Catholic faith and heritage.
- To promote academic excellence within curriculum, appropriate to the individual needs, skills and abilities of each student.
- To assist children in developing sensitivity and concern to issues of social justice and responsible stewardship.
- To provide a non-threatening environment in which to help children discover their potential and accept their limitations.
- To help students understand their place in Church and society in order to become contributing members.
What is CORE?
CORE is St. Peter's School system for organizing and guiding volunteer efforts. CORE represents parents' "core" role in their children's education, and is the result of merging three former parent volunteer groups: Home & School, Development and Fundraising.
CORE's purpose is to utilize volunteers to support SPS' mission. Its three goals are to:
• Help ensure the school's financial health
• Help increase enrollment
• Help build community
All parents are a part of CORE. A CORE Steering Committee includes the principal and parents who are eager to help lead volunteer initiatives. Any parent is invited to serve on the Steering Committee.
As part of CORE, parents are asked to do one simple thing: be active. Whether it's just a few hours a year or several per month, the CORE Steering Committee will offer opportunities that match any parents' schedules and skills.
Why volunteer? Studies show that when parents take an active interest in and support school programs, almost always student achievement increases and school discipline problems decline. And, in our small school, volunteering enables you to get to know teachers and parents and helps you feel part of a caring, close-knit community.
