Where were you born and raised?
I was born in Tyler, MN and raised seven miles away in Lake Benton, MN. Lake Benton is in the southwest part of Minnesota. A town of 700 people.
What schools did you attend?
I graduated from Lake Benton public schools. Attended Alexandria Tech Institute, the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis) and the College of St. Catharine.
Where were you previously employed?
My teaching career includes: St. Peter's School in Delano, St. Peter and Paul School in Loretto, Grandview School Mound, Orono ISD#278, St. Mark's School, St. Paul and subbing at Minnehaha Academy, Minneapolis and St. Richard's in Richfield.
What brought you to St. Peter’s School?
I like teaching in a smaller school. It helps that the school is close to my home.
What do you enjoy most about your career?
I come to work and play for a living! I enjoy seeing the smiling faces of students each day in my class as well as teaching them about good physical activities.
What are your favorite hobbies/pastimes?
It depends on the season. I enjoy outdoor sports, water activities (rowing, kayaking, boating, fishing, scuba, snorkeling), summer activities (hiking, biking, camping), winter skiing (both downhilll and cross country), snowmobile. I love to travel all over the world . I enjoy art and music activities, theatre, etc. i guess my list is a mile long!
What is your “secret” for working with children on a daily basis?
I don't have a secret - I try to treat each student with respect and dignity. I use lots of humor.
